Aftercare FAQ

Will I receive warranty and aftercare information?

Product, installation and care information should be explained for the selected service before handover. Ask for the applicable written details rather than assuming every film, coating or wrap has identical terms.

Arrange an inspection
01

Separate product and installation information

Warranty terms depend on the selected product and its application. Ask what is covered, for what period if stated, and which conditions or exclusions apply. Installation quality and product performance are related but not the same question. The handover should make clear who to contact if an issue appears and what information is needed to assess it. Keep the supplied scope with any care documents, because the correct maintenance method is often part of the conditions. Do not infer that information for one product applies to another.

02

Aftercare starts at collection

Fresh film, wrap and ceramic coating may need a controlled early-care period. Confirm when washing is appropriate, whether weather exposure should be limited, and how to treat edges, joins and contamination. Sydney heat, UV, road grime and insect residue make a simple maintenance routine important after the initial period. Ask specifically about rain, parking under trees, bird or insect residue and the first inspection. Practical instructions are more useful than a vague direction to take care of the surface.

03

Use compatible maintenance methods

Regular gentle hand washing helps prevent grime and residue bonding to the surface. Avoid automatic brushes and aggressive pressure close to edges, seams, badges and panel returns. Satin and matte films should not be conventionally polished, while coated paint still needs safe washing rather than harsh chemicals. Work from a clean wash solution and soft equipment, rinse away grit before contact and dry without dragging contamination across the finish. If uncertain, pause and ask before applying a polish or solvent. A simple consistent routine is preferable to rotating through strong products that have not been confirmed for the finish.

04

Keep records and report changes early

Retain the scope, product information and care instructions. Fleet managers should give drivers a short shared process for washing and reporting damage. Photographing a concern and contacting the workshop promptly is more useful than continuing with a strong cleaner or abrasive method that may complicate assessment. A quick report can also distinguish a new impact from normal contamination and helps decide whether the vehicle should be washed, inspected or left untouched. Record the date, location and likely cause where known, without attempting to prove a conclusion from a single photograph. This keeps follow-up practical. The same record is useful when a vehicle changes drivers, is washed by a different provider or returns after a long interstate trip.

  • Confirm early washing and curing guidance
  • Use products compatible with the installed finish
  • Keep warranty and handover information together
  • Report lifting, damage or unusual changes promptly

Related questions

Does a coating remove the need for aftercare?

No. A coating can assist cleaning and surface behaviour, but safe washing and contamination removal remain necessary.

Can I use an automatic brush wash after wrapping?

It is better to use compatible gentle hand-washing and take care around edges, because brushes and harsh methods can mark or lift film.

What should warranty information explain?

It should identify the relevant product and installation terms, care conditions, exclusions where applicable and the process for raising a concern.
